Theme Description |
In the decoration programme of officials´ tombs, manufacture of flint knives appears not until the Middle Kingdom and even then it remains restricted to the necropolis of Beni Hasan. The depicted craftsmen work mainly in pairs, sitting on the ground with a small anvil in front of them. They chip flint knives with the help of fabricators that are pressed downwards against the edge of the knife´s blade. Flint knives were used for cooking as well as for slaughtering.
